Raiders Won’t Have To Worry About Chiefs WR Tyreek Hill Anymore

In a surprise move following the Las Vegas Raiders’ acquisition of star wide receiver Davante Adams, the Kansas City Chiefs countered. They did so by trading away their own star pass-catcher, Tyreek Hill, to the Miami Dolphins. This offseason has taken an unusual and unexpected turn with the Hill trade, though the Raiders’ defensive backs are probably smiling right now.

The Chiefs sold high while the Raiders are all in…

It was rather unexpected to hear about the Hill trade, but once word got out that Chiefs’ brass had granted him permission to seek a trade, the hammer dropped rather swiftly. In exchange for Hill’s services, the Dolphins surrendered a grand total of five draft picks.

The Dolphins received a three-time All-Pro in Tyreek Hill. Meanwhile, the Chiefs received a bounty made up of 2022 first round, second round, and fourth round selections. Plus, they also acquired a fourth and sixth round pick in next year’s NFL draft.

At the end of the day, the Raiders decided that their time to win was now. Giving up this year’s first and second round picks is evidence of that, more so when you consider how tightly the previous Raiders’ regime held onto draft capital.

As for the Chiefs, they decided to trade one of their biggest stars before he began to see his play on the field decline. By doing so, they gave themselves financial flexibility and will be in prime position over the next couple of drafts to reload their roster. It’ll be interesting to see how the Raiders match up with the Chiefs this season.

The Raiders’ defenders were frequently on the receiving end of highlight-reel catches, with Hill burning them down the field. Raider Nation can take solace in knowing this won’t be happening anymore.
