Chase Garbers

Raiders Find Potential QB2 In Cal Signal-Caller Chase Garbers

Following the conclusion of “round eight” of the NFL draft, the Las Vegas Raiders signed a handful of undrafted free agents to their roster. One of them is quarterback Chase Garbers from California University. While the starting spot has already been filled for the next few years, there is no reason why you should not consider future planning. Let’s take a look at one of Silver and Black’s newest members.

Who Is The Latest Raiders Signee?

Garbers’ career at Cal was unfortunately hurt by losing seasons. Finally, he had 2,531 passing yards and 16 touchdowns in his last football season. He also had eight interceptions. Despite this, he has shown signs of improvement, whether it is in his agility out of the pocket or going through his strides to make a pass to an open receiver. It’s possible that once preseason begins, we’ll be able to see what the team has to offer.

All the battles happen in camp, so there could be a surprise on our hands. He was also the team’s offensive MVP for the 2021 season. That was in addition to being fourth in the Pac-12 in passing yards and completion percentage.

What does Chase Garbers bring to the table?

So, despite playing in a conference dominated by USC, Oregon, and UCLA, he managed to rise to the top of the rankings. If he wants to be considered for the full 53-man roster, he must bring the same competitive spirit to camp.

The reasoning for the grade is that he is regarded as a legitimate project. Garbers surely has talent, but it’s going to need time to translate to the pro-level game. It also depends on how quickly he picks up the playbook, because if he adjusts quickly, he may be able to contend for the third spot on the depth chart.

We could just have a special draft diamond right before our eyes. If he can clean up the issues he had in college, then the sky is the limit. With this opportunity, he has a chance to prove his skeptics wrong, and with general manager Dave Ziegler and head coach Josh McDaniels’ support, he gets the green light to go all in.

UDFA Grade: C+
