James Bradberry has been released by the New York Giants, meaning that the Las Vegas Raiders now have a shot at pursuing the Pro Bowl defensive back.
Do the Raiders have a shot at landing James Bradberry?
NFL insider Ian Rapoport broke the news today that the Giants have indeed informed Bradberry of his release. Following the Giants’ inability to put together a trade involving the Pro Bowler, it appeared it was only a matter of time before the two sides parted ways.

The Raiders could use another boost to their secondary after acquiring Rock Ya-Sin in the offseason, but the need for Bradberry might be that much more important following Trayvon Mullen’s surgery. An insurance policy wouldn’t hurt anyone in this case, and Bradberry could fit the bill.
Last season, Bradberry had good numbers in every category. He broke up 17 passes, recovered two fumbles, and picked off four passes.
Can Las Vegas afford Bradberry’s services?
Raider Nation has been clamoring for Bradberry’s services, but they might have to wait. According to The Athletic’s Tashan Reed, the Raiders would have to wait until their June 2nd cuts take place. By then, nearly $19.75 million will come off the books, according to Reed.
Of course, there could be a mutual agreement in place, or unfortunately for the Raiders, another team could swoop in and pick him up. Bradberry does have connections to current defensive coordinator Patrick Graham, so that might play a part as well. It’s akin to Casey Hayward joining the Raiders in 2021 largely due to his ties to Gus Bradley. Regardless, it’ll be a situation to monitor in the coming days.
