The linebacker position has been a plague on the Las Vegas Raiders’ defense for years. Before Denzel Perryman’s arrival at the start of the 2021 season, the Raiders basically had a high school linebacker core for years. They couldn’t tackle a tackling dummy. They couldn’t cover a bed with a blanket (see Tahir Whitehead). However, between Perryman and recent draft picks by the Silver and Black, the group has had a facelift going into Raiders training camp.
A mix of a veteran presence and young studs has Raider Nation excited, finally, about the group. Nonetheless, it seems nobody is talking about this unit in the lead-up to training camp. And with a new hot shot at defensive coordinator, these linebackers should play a huge role in the defense’s success.
