Residing In The AFC West – Reason No. 3 That Raiders Miss Playoffs
The fact is, the AFC West is loaded in 2022. It’s debatable whether this offseason’s headlines were inflated by your annual hype train. My colleague, Cam Archer, recently wrote a column in which he dispels several of these notions. Whether Raiders fans want to admit it to themselves or not, it doesn’t change the fact that their squad could be on the outside looking in once January 2023 gets here.
All three of the Raiders’ opponents made key upgrades and additions to their respective teams. The Los Angeles Chargers went out and bought themselves a defense with Khalil Mack and JC Jackson. The Denver Broncos landed a Super Bowl-winning and perennial MVP in Russell Wilson. As far as the Kansas City Chiefs go, Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid haven’t gone anywhere.
Sorry Raiders fans, a third or even fourth place finish can’t be ruled out. Especially when you consider McDaniels’ past failures as head coach. Training camp is here though, so let’s see if the Raiders can overcome all of these issues in 2022.
