Las Vegas Raiders News: Demarcus Robinson Is Impressing Early On

While the Las Vegas Raiders did make a massive move at wide receiver when they traded for Davante Adams, they could not stop there. As we saw towards the tail end of the season, the wide receiver position was one of the biggest holes on the roster after Bryan Edwards failed to catch on. Let’s catch up on the latest Raiders news and see how Robinson is doing with training camp underway.

So, with Adams and Hunter Renfrow firmly entrenched in the receiver room, the Raiders added Demarcus Robinson to help compliment the two of them. Robinson, a fourth-round pick of the Chiefs in 2016, spent the last six seasons in Kansas City. His best season came in 2020, when Robinson had 466 receiving yards on 45 receptions for three touchdowns.

Clearly, Robinson has never been much more than a complimentary piece. However, he does possess a good combination of size and speed, which makes him an interesting developmental project. However, head coach Josh McDaniels is most excited about his energy.

“He’s competitive in everything we ask him to do, which I love. And he’s got a great attitude. He’s brought a lot of fire and competition to that room.”

With all of the talent that the Raiders already have at wide receiver, they do not need Robinson to be a Pro Bowler. Instead, a consummate professional who works hard will do the trick.

Raiders News: Demarcus Robinson is ready to carve out a role

As mentioned, all the Raiders will ask from Robinson is that he provides reliability when called upon. After all, barring injury, he is likely to finish fourth on the team in targets after Adam, Renfrow, and Waller get theirs.

“…but you do a good job of trying to put the best guys in there and let them have opportunities and earn their own role and Demarcus has certainly come here with a great attitude and a great approach to practice,” said McDaniels. It appears that, regardless of his playing time, Robinson is ready to do what it takes to help the Raiders win in 2022.

Of course, the Raiders have hardly decided on who their starter will be across from Adams this season. Regardless, it appears as if Robinson has the inside track, with competition likely to come from Keelan Cole and Mack Hollins. Early on, it is Robinson who is catching the eye of the head coach.
