The battle for the backup quarterback job between Nick Mullens and Jarrett Stidham has been one of the many battles during the Las Vegas Raiders’ preseason. Is Stidham beginning to separate himself from the pack? Will he be the Raiders’ QB2 once it’s all said and done?
Jarrett Stidham has been impressive against the Miami Dolphins
A former New England Patriot who played under Josh McDaniels, Stidham was automatically seen as a lock for the backup gig. Obviously, Mullens has more NFL experience, but simply put, Stidham continues to demonstrate that he has both a grasp on McDaniels’ offense and a feel for it. Continuing to make the most of his playing time against the Miami Dolphins today, Stidham is building his case.
Impressive drive by the @Raiders going 75 yards for a TD to start their third preseason game. Jarrett Stidham looked sharp. Big plays from DJ Turner, Keelan Cole, and Jesper Horsted

In fact, in a game where the offensive line has been shaky, Stidham has demonstrated pocket presence and poise, doing his best to deliver passes. Earlier in the game, the Raiders drove 75 yards for a touchdown to get things going in Miami. Stidham went five of seven for 71 passing yards. DJ Turner, Keelan Cole, and Zamir White all got into the action, with White delivering the scoring punch.
Better poise today from Stidham. Especially with the line getting beat down.

Barring a disastrous end to the game, Stidham is more than likely entrenched as QB2. He’s looked more comfortable playing in this current system, and his performance with an overwhelmed O-line that was facing Dolphins starters shows he’s an adequate choice for backup.
