Raiders News: Darren Waller About To Become Highest Paid TE?

The Las Vegas Raiders have done a notable job of securing the services of several key players. However, one player that remains without a new long-term commitment is tight end Darren Waller. In an ever developing bit of Raiders news, new developments have arisen.

Raiders News: Is Las Vegas going to secure Darren Waller’s services?

Under his current contract, Waller is set to be a free agent in 2024. However, given the contracts that have been issued to tight ends recently, Waller has been looking for a new deal. Take David Njoku of the Cleveland Browns, for example. Back in May, Njoku received a four-year extension, which would net Njoku upwards of $14-plus million each season. On the other hand, San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle is making $15 million a year under his current deal.

For Waller, he’s apparently been in negotiation to trying to top Kittle’s contract. Per NFL insider Josina Anderson, Waller is trying to land a deal that will lead to him making $16 million a year.

“Considering his versatility and athletic ability, Waller has been due for a boost in pay for some time now. It appears a new deal could be coming soon.”

It was also recently reported that the Raiders’ star had changed his representation. He recently left Klutch Sports Group, which sent the news world into a tailspin.

That’s mostly due to the fact that many can’t seem to figure out what that move really means; good or bad? Regardless, the rumor mill has been churning a lot this week already, and it’s only Monday. Could we see Waller receiving a new contract before Week 1? What are your thoughts, Raider Nation? Will something get done this week?
