Brandon Staley and Josh McDaniels are commanding different teams
There’s no doubt that Staley learned his lesson in that crushing defeat back in January. As he looks to get his team over the hump and into the postseason this season, he too has a different team just as McDaniels does. As the Raiders’ head coach mentioned, while many of the key players remain, both rosters went through changes this offseason.
“The two teams now are different. We’ve watched that game, we’ve seen it. As you know, the scheme on their end may be a little bit more similar to that game than ours will be. But I think there’s been so much change relative to the personnel on both sides. They have a new team, we have a new team, like there is every year. We’re looking forward to competing on Sunday.”
The Chargers boast several new faces on defense that will look to shut down the high-powered Raiders offense. The Silver and Black, on the other hand, will have a potent offense led by newcomer Davante Adams and a revamped running back group. Considering the level of disregard that exists between these squads, especially from Justin Herbert, Joey Bosa, and others, you can bet that this game will pick up where Week 18 concluded.
