Breaking Raiders News: Darren Waller Likely To Miss Next Game

A rough 2022 NFL season continues for Las Vegas Raiders tight end Darren Waller. Dealing with a nagging hamstring injury, it appears he’s trending towards missing Sunday’s game versus the Houston Texans. Raiders beat writer Tashan Reed reported that Waller has missed practice for the second straight time this week. While it could be that the team is being cautious, it could also mean that Waller’s ailment is more serious than what’s being put out there.

On top of Waller missing practice, Vic Tafur from The Athletic also confirmed that Waller himself told Jim Trotter of NFL Media that he’ll likely miss the Texans game. As it stands, the Raiders haven’t ruled out Waller, so there’s that. Needless to say, Raiders fans will be highly disappointed if Waller can’t go on Sunday.

Breaking Raiders News: What if Darren Waller can’t go?

The season could very well hang in the balance for the Raiders. Let’s face it, they can’t afford yet another loss. Right now, the Raiders are slated to have a top three pick in next year’s draft, a far cry from the lofty expectations placed on them this offseason. For Waller, he just hasn’t clicked in Josh McDaniels’ offense. Both he and Hunter Renfrow have taken a backseat to Davante Adams. To make matters worse, when Waller has had the spotlight on him, he’s failed to live up to expectations.

His crucial drops have been the subject of much heated debate. The overall stat line of 16 catches for 175 receiving yards is underwhelming no matter which way you want to spin it. While it would be ignorant to blame all of the Raiders’ troubles on Waller, he deserves his share as well. It’s an unfortunate sight, but Raiders fans are quickly turning on Waller. If he misses Sunday’s contest, you can expect more impatience from Raider Nation.
