Raider Nation Reacts To Magic Pursuing Minority Stake In Raiders

While the Week 7 clash between the Las Vegas Raiders and Houston Texans is just about 24 hours away, the news of the day is unrelated. Instead, Raider Nation woke up this morning to a story by Semafor, a global news company, running a story on Los Angeles Lakers legend Earvin “Magic” Johnson. Essentially, it’s revealed that Johnson and a group of investors were the ones that made an offer to Raiders owner Mark Davis back in August.

The story, which was originally run by Forbes at that time, stated that the Raiders were valued at $6.5 billion. It should be noted, and this is important, that nothing has been finalized. Neither Johnson nor his investment firm, Magic Johnson Enterprises, have commented on the story. For those who might not be familiar with Johnson’s portfolio in his post-playing career, it’s quite diverse. He owns stakes in the Los Angeles Dodgers, which was huge as L.A. fans embraced the post-Frank McCourt ownership group. Johnson also owns capital in several franchises, most notably, Starbucks. But what about the Raiders? The team has been in the hands of the Davis family for generations. A purchase by Johnson could signal a shift in that control.

Magic Coming To The Lakers? Raider Nation Weighs In…

As you may have already guessed, Raider Nation was quick to react to this development. You can always count on Raider Nation to make their feelings known, whether it’s on or off-the-field related. The relationship between fans and the Raiders’ ownership has been testy, to put it lightly. The move to Las Vegas, the Jon Gruden catastrophe, and the overall lack of on-the-field success have soured many fans’ belief in Davis. Regardless, Raiders fans aren’t going anywhere; they remain faithful and simply want what’s best for the organization. Is a minority stake purchased by Johnson and Co. a move they’d like to see?
