Raiders Week 7: 3 Knee-Jerk Reactions After Second Win

We’re back from the bye week with more knee-jerk reactions! After three ugly quarters, Josh Jacobs and the Las Vegas Raiders exploded in the fourth to run away with a 38-20 win over the Houston Texans.

Raiders Week 7: 3 Observations Now That Las Vegas Is 2-4

Josh Jacobs Is That Guy

Another week, another masterful performance by Josh Jacobs. He is completely taking over games. Even more noteworthy is the fact that Jacobs is doing a lot of it on his own too. The offensive line has improved in the run game, but Jacobs is still creating a lot of yards after contact. He is just bullying people. If this continues, defenses are going to struggle to defend this offense if they have to start putting seven and eight guys in the box. Hopefully, Jacobs can keep healthy with this hefty workload.

The Raiders’ Defense Is Atrocious

Every time the cameras cut to defensive coordinator Patrick Graham on Sunday, he looked completely exasperated. They couldn’t stop anyone. Dameon Pierce ran all over the Silver and Black. The porous secondary made Davis Mills look like Joe Montana at times. Serious question: what is tackling? Do the Raiders know what it is? Even promising players like Trevon Moehrig looked mediocre. Although, to be fair, Moehrig was far from the worst safety on the field.

It’s Time For Clelin Ferrell and Johnathan Abram To Go

While Jacobs has earned at least another year with the Raiders, his fellow 2019 first round picks have overstayed their welcome. Clelin Ferrell committed his second holding call in two consecutive weeks. How does that even happen? He is a rotational defensive lineman who moonlights on special teams. Unreal. Then there’s Johnathan Abram. He’s just completely useless at this point. Abram can’t even handle being strictly a box safety because he cannot tackle. With the trade deadline approaching, it’s time to see if the Raiders can get anything for them. Maybe some conditional seventh round picks. Maybe they package them with some picks to get a player. Even a bag of footballs will suffice at this point.
