In some recent NFL news, the draft order for the 2023 NFL Draft has been shaken up due to the Las Vegas Raiders’ latest win.
At one point, there was so much talk about the state of the Raiders and how it pertained to the draft. In fact, early mock drafts had the Raiders drafting a new quarterback in the top three. Since then, the narrative has changed. Well, that’s what happens when a team wins. In fact, following their Week 13 victory against the Los Angeles Chargers, things got shaken up within the top ten.
NFL News: Las Vegas Raiders no longer own a Top 10 pick
Looking at the standings via Tankathon, you can tell that this weekend’s action has changed things. As far as the Raiders are concerned, they’re out of the top ten now. As NFL fans await Monday Night Football, the Raiders are currently selecting at No. 12, which is slowly putting an “elite” prospect out of reach. At the same time, the playoffs are a possibility again. It’s surely a double-edged sword.
The two teams on Monday night will also see their picks affected. For example, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are currently slated to be a Wild Card team at 5-6. Unfortunately, a loss could propel them higher up the rankings. Returning to the Raiders for a minute, it’s interesting how things have turned. Once seen as a team that would’ve possibly been looking for a quarterback, the position looks to be the least of their worries. If anything, the lower in the order that the Raiders drop, the greater the likelihood that “best defensive player available” will be the way to go. For now, we’ll continue monitoring the ever-changing updates to the order of the 2023 draft.
What say you, Raider Nation? A top-five pick or a playoff berth? It’s a rhetorical question; of course, Raiders fans want the playoffs.
Just Win, Baby.
