Raiders DE Maxx Crosby A Finalist For The Esteemed Art Rooney Award

Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby has continued to demonstrate why he’s arguably the best in the business this year. And now, his many other qualities are being recognized not just by fans but by players around the league.

In a memo released by the National Football League, eight players have been named as finalists for the Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award. It reads as follows:

“The eight finalists for the 2022 Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award have been named, the NFL announced today. The award is presented each year to an NFL player who best demonstrates the qualities of on-field sportsmanship, including fair play, respect for the game and opponents, and integrity in competition.”

Breaking Raiders News: Maxx Crosby’s true qualities are getting recognized

Crosby is one of the most beloved players in Raider Nation. That’s not breaking news, obviously. However, he has consistently demonstrated that he is a true gentleman on the field, an example for others to emulate. You’ll never catch him landing a cheap shot, and you’ll often hear other players complimenting him. In fact, prior to the regular season, Crosby was named to the NFL’s Top 100 by his cohorts.

The last member of the Raiders to win this prestigious award was another fan favorite. We’re referring to Pro Football Hall of Fame defensive back Charles Woodson. That was back in 2015. From entering fatherhood to becoming a complete defensive force on the field, we’re seeing something special. In fact, you could make the argument that Crosby is a complete player this year, excelling in all phases of the game. According to Pro Football Focus, Crosby is dominating in pass rush, coverage, and run defense for an overall grade of 90.2. That’s sheer dominance, and as the team looks to keep its winning ways going, his play will be pivotal.

The honors will soon begin stacking up for No. 98; this is just the beginning.
