Wednesday, December 28th, 2022, might go down as a historical day for the Las Vegas Raiders. Depending on what happens with Derek Carr in the offseason, fans might look back on this date as the end of an era. Funny enough, there’s an entire sect of Raider Nation, popularly known as “Carr Stans,” that are losing their collective minds at the moment. In case you’re not familiar with the term, “Stan” means to be overzealous or obsessive with an individual. For years, it’s been the strange behavior we’ve seen on social media from those who find nothing wrong with Carr. In particular, many have laid blame on other aspects of the Raiders’ organization as the reason for his shortcomings.
Is this the end for Raiders QB Derek Carr and his followers?
Well, it shouldn’t shock anyone, as many of those fans have had quite the emotional response to the news of Carr being benched. To be clear, there are several fronts that can be analyzed here. Some fans simply want their team to succeed. Given the abysmal struggles on offense this month, they’re not overly surprised. On the other hand, let’s call a spade a spade. There are those who have bashed Carr to no end. They too fall on the spectrum of “obsessive.”
It’s a sight to behold if you’re on Twitter right now. An ensemble of media personalities, podcasters, “YouTubers,” and just fans in general are up in arms. However, the Raiders’ current management structured Carr’s contract specifically for this possibility this offseason. Carr’s first season under McDaniels was very much a tryout. While there’s no official indication of the future after 2022 yet, getting benched with two games left and playoff implications on the line doesn’t bode well for Carr. It’s going to be interesting to see what happens with so many Carr apologists. Some have claimed they’ll stop being fans of the Raiders. Others have proclaimed that their love goes beyond one player.
Only time will tell how Raider Nation adjusts moving forward. In the meantime, take a look at some of the reactions making waves on Twitter.
Carr “Stans” are having a rough day at the office…
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Raiders fans who are having a tough time with McDaniels’ decision.
It’s not been a fun 25 years @Raiders … I’ll see you when Josh McDaniels is gone. Turning your back on the guy that carried you through the lowest of times. You’re disgraceful and pathetic.

Josh McDaniels purposely lost games for the #raiders, calling horrible plays to make Derek Carr look bad and justify moving on from him. That is why they had the one year out in the extension.
Change my mind.

Feels like the day when Raiders traded Mack away

The next 6 months everyone will be arguing about Carr, and within the next couple months we’ll know if he’s back with us next year or not but..
Delete the QB position completely, do we feel confident that this coaching staff and front office can actually bounce back next year?

Fan bases be so excited to draft and start anew when the franchise has proven over 20 years they suck at that very process. Lmao
