In a smart business decision, the Las Vegas Raiders quarterback is keeping his mouth shut. Taking a page out of the Cosa Nostra playbook, No. 4 is exercising his own omerta. When you consider that Carr wants to play for another NFL team in 2023, this was the road best traveled at the moment.
NFL players do indeed talk, just like the players who were under Josh McDaniels back in Denver. The current Raiders head coach had a less than stellar run with the Broncos, and several of his ex-players have had zero issue with speaking about those days. However, said players don’t play anymore, and McDaniels now helps to run the Raiders. Carr, for his part, played to the best of his abilities alongside his college teammate and superstar wide receiver Davante Adams. However, it just wasn’t enough. In fact, it’s been reported that the Raiders’ brass was ready to move on from Carr early in the season.
According to recently published work by Raiders beat writer Hondo Carpenter, not all was well with the Raiders. Carr was singled out and criticized in front of the team by McDaniels. The player who helped stabilize the quarterback position after a decade-plus of rummage was treated like any other player. It was an interesting approach by the new head coach. For his part, Carr did the best with what he could, which was work with a coaching staff that was already looking ahead to 2023. Even after Carr’s outpouring of emotion rallied the troops, the Raiders just weren’t having it.
What really happened with Derek Carr and the Raiders?
As far as playing for another team, Carr has the support of his family, including Super Bowl champion quarterback David Carr. The elder Carr went on their family’s podcast via Harvester Sports to make it clear that the truth would soon come out. However, truth seekers will have to wait. Derek made it clear that right now, focusing on the future is his focus. The “tell-all” that Raiders fans want is being put on hold.
Thank you to all the people reaching out trying to give me their platform to tell my side of what happened. It's the hardest thing in the world not to jump on every interview and tell the whole truth. Thank you but I'm choosing to move on and give our next city our best. ðŸ™ðŸ¼

By taking this approach, Carr is taking the high road. Rather than spill the beans on the shenanigans of what went on behind the scenes, Carr understands that business is more important. Everything has a place and time in life. However, going on a podcast to throw dirt won’t help Carr integrate into another NFL locker room. Well played. Carr is simply “choosing to move on.”
