Despite the fact that the Las Vegas Raiders and Derek Carr have gone their separate ways, one can’t help but wonder what will happen. For the Raiders, the quarterback situation is far from addressed. Some fans are clamoring for C.J. Stroud or Bryce Young to be the next signal-caller. Others are dreading hearing the news that the team has signed Jimmy Garoppolo or Jacoby Brissett. As for Carr, there’s been an interesting development.
The latest on former Raiders QB Derek Carr…
NFL insider Ian Rapoport, who’s reporting from Indianapolis this week, mentioned on NFL Total Access that No. 4 is set to make his presence known. Carr has met with the New Orleans Saints and the New York Jets, as most Raiders fans are aware. However, Rapoport stated that Carr will be meeting with several other teams this week during the NFL Combine. It’s not a normal occurrence for an NFL free agent to do this. This week is normally known as a time for NFL teams to scout future prospects. Nonetheless, Rapoport does also say that he expects Carr will have a new team before free agency begins.
“One of the biggest stories here in Combine Week isn’t just about the prospects but about a veteran quarterback, specifically Derek Carr, the former Las Vegas Raiders starter. I am told that while we are here in Indy and every team is in Indy, Carr is also headed to Indy. Sources say he’s expected to meet with a handful of teams as he re-kickstarts his free agent process. I would expect him to sign before free agency begins.”
Say what you will about Carr, love him or hate him, his numbers speak for themselves.
You remember when Brady and Manning went to the combine when they were looking for their next team? Yeah, me neither.

As Rapoport drove the point home, this is about the right “fit” for Carr. Regardless, it is somewhat odd that Carr has to go out of his way to meet with teams.
