Bleacher Report Raiders

Why The Raiders’ Offensive Line Will Be Crucial To Their Success In 2023

The Las Vegas Raiders are in a very exciting position this upcoming 2023 NFL season. With their competent coaching staff and core of talented players, it looks like the sky’s the limit for them. It’s hard to imagine it right now, but it’s true. One area that will be instrumental in whether or not they reach that potential lies within the offensive line: if they can protect Jimmy Garoppolo and open up holes for running plays, it could mean success come playoff time.

A new look for the Raiders’ O-line in 2023?

As it stands, the direction that the Raiders will take is still unclear. Yes, Josh McDaniels and Co. have Kolton Miller, but the rest of the line still has question marks. As Tashan Reed of The Athletic recently put it, other than Miller, the unit is made up of Dylan Parham, Andre James, Netane Muti, and, sigh, Brandon Parker.

Analyzing the strengths of the offense and “Why it will make a difference.”

The Raiders offensive line is going to be built to make a difference. They have the strength and size needed to protect their quarterbacks from pressure as well as open up holes for running plays. The latter is evidenced by the fact that Josh Jacobs was the league’s leading rusher. This stability in protection and blocking is key for any successful offense, and it’s one of the biggest reasons why the Raiders are so confident about their chances this season. Or else, why haven’t they splashed in free agency with a big-name offensive lineman?

The Las Vegas Raiders have high hopes for their new-look offense, and it’s easy to see why. Many of the free agent additions are familiar with McDaniels and his offense. However, none of that matters if the O-line doesn’t see a significant upgrade or two. With the right group in the trenches, this team has the potential to be one of the best in the league offensively. If they can protect the quarterback, open up holes in the running game, give their defense rest between drives, and control time of possession, they will have a great chance at making it far in 2023.

As such, the Las Vegas Raiders’ odds should certainly increase due to this newfound strength on offense.
