In a monumental draft for the Las Vegas Raiders this year, do they still draft a quarterback despite signing Jimmy Garoppolo? That’s the million-dollar question with the players selection meeting now days away.
General manager Dave Ziegler went with a familiar face in Garoppolo, which, no surprise, has left many fans feeling underwhelmed. You get rid of the organization’s record holder for several passing feats and replace him with an oft-injured signal-caller. Still, Ziegler and head coach Josh McDaniels are singing to their own tune, and building a quarterback’s room with players they trust will help not only to instill an offensive system but a winning culture overall. One look at the depth chart and it’s quite apparent: Jimmy Garoppolo, Brian Hoyer, and, of course, the 2021 Second Team, All Pac-12 QB Chase Garbers. So, now the question on people’s minds is whether the Raiders are set at the position.
Well, we posed the question to our readers via Twitter.
Do the #Raiders still draft a quarterback this year?

As always, Raiders fans didn’t disappoint with their thoughts. The notion that the Raiders need to draft a quarterback in the first round isn’t as sure-fire as it once was. Garoppolo came to the Raiders to win, not provide a bridge to another player. At least not this upcoming year. However, a lot of this will depend on how the top of the draft develops. Barring a trade, Ziegler and Co. are sitting at No. 7. So, in theory, that puts them out of the running for Bryce Young and C.J. Stroud. So far, the notion of drafting Will Levis with that selection isn’t a popular one. Rather, Raider Nation seems to be in favor of taking the “BPA,” especially if it’s one of the defensive standouts that’ll be available.
Maybe the Raiders will still draft a quarterback, just not in the first round.
