The future is uncertain for Las Vegas Raiders running back Josh Jacobs ahead of July 17th. Still, things are getting out of hand. Take, for example, the NFL on CBS, which hilariously suggested this week that Jacobs will end up getting traded—to the Denver Broncos, of all teams.
We can hear the collective sigh from Raider Nation right about now.

Josh Jacobs to the Broncos? There’s no way the Raiders would do that, right?
Now, to be fair to Garrett Podell (who came up with the scenario, which NFL on CBS shared via Twitter), the Broncos weren’t the only team he named as a “potential landing spot.” You also have the Philadelphia Eagles, Miami Dolphins, and Arizona Cardinals.
Still, the Broncos?
The notion that general manager Dave Ziegler would ship off No. 28 (technically, No. 8 now) to Denver is asinine. It’s the typical clickbait you put out there to gain interactions and whatnot. The Broncos, who finished behind the Raiders in the AFC West last season, are looking to bounce back with Sean Payton at the helm. Pairing one of the most successful offensive-minded coaches in recent memory with Jacobs is a recipe for disaster—for the Raiders.
As far as the other teams, there’s no logical reason to believe that the Eagles would go after Jacobs. Their running back group consists of De’Andre Swift, Kenneth Gainwell, and Rashaad Penny. That doesn’t sound like a roster starving for a running back, even if it’s an All-Pro.
Yes, no one knows what Jacobs is thinking at the moment. He has stood his ground so far, not attending the Raiders’ offseason activities. Is there any chance that Ziegler and Co. actually jettison Jacobs? No one thought that both Derek Carr and Darren Waller (offensive stalwarts prior to Ziegler and head coach Josh McDaniels’ arrival) would be jettisoned. And yet, here we are.
Anything can happen, folks.

Are the Raiders’ second-year running backs ready to go if Josh Jacobs remains unsigned?
