In a bit of breaking news, a former All-Pro could be joining the ranks of the Silver and Black ahead of veterans reporting to training camp. That’s right, Raiders fans, we’re talking about Marcus Peters.
NFL insider Ian Rapoport issued a report on Friday morning stating that Peters is set to meet with the Raiders’ brass this Monday. As some of you may recall, the former Baltimore Raven had another meeting with the Raiders earlier this offseason. Unfortunately, nothing came of it. With rookies reporting to Henderson this week, it won’t be too shocking to see general manager Dave Ziegler add more bodies to the roster. That’s especially true for the defense, which has many new young faces—adding someone of Peters’ caliber could be invaluable.
The #Raiders will host FA CB Marcus Peters for a visit and workout on Monday, sources say. Las Vegas visited with Peters earlier this spring, now will take another close look before training camp.

The Raiders can’t afford to mess this up, right?
Raider Nation is infamous for getting its hopes up whenever a big name is “linked” to the team. However, Year 2 of the Ziegler and Josh McDaniels-led regime is in a precarious state. They need to show improvement, namely on defense. As a result, Peters is likely seen as an “instant” upgrade. Or is he?
Well, that depends on who you ask—take our own Alex Monfreda, for example.
I might be the only person out there who absolutely in no way believes the Raiders *need* Marcus Peters to have a competent CB room.
Duke Shelley and David Long have impressed me in their young careers. And man, I might be higher than anyone on Jakorian Bennett.

Duke Shelley and David Long aren’t the “sexiest” names out there, much less household names. Still, that doesn’t mean they can’t play; far from it. Alongside rookie Jakorian Bennett and a contributor many are hoping can bounce back, Nate Hobbs, the Raiders are fielding a youthful defensive backfield with tons of potential.
What say you, Raider Nation? Is Marcus Peters a “can’t miss” signing at this juncture, or should the Raiders pass?
