With Josh McDaniels gone, the entire Las Vegas Raiders locker room celebrated as if an evil demon spirit had been exorcised. In fact, star pass rusher Maxx Crosby took to Instagram Live to give the world an inside look after Sunday’s victory. Among those in attendance was owner Mark Davis. In retrospect, was it a bit much?
Did Maxx Crosby, Mark Davis, and the Raiders go too far with Sunday’s behavior postgame?
Let’s face it, given the results of Week 9, one could make the argument that McDaniels was holding back this team. Whether out of ego or some sort of insecurity, it wasn’t working. The Raiders broke through the 20-point mark on offense for the first time this season. Is it a coincidence it happened once the “offensive guru” was jettisoned? When you take into account all of the changes that took place (general manager Dave Ziegler was fired as well) last week, combined with the tough, nearly indigestible losses in Chicago and against Detroit, this team was going through the wringer.
After a dominant outing, it made sense that Crosby wanted his teammates to let off some steam. Reportedly, “Mad Maxx” had the team’s equipment managers grab cigars for the entire locker room ahead of the contest. Once the win was in the books, the players let loose. Multiple personalities made appearances on Crosby’s live stream, but none more important than Davis himself. The often-criticized Raiders owner looks happy and relieved to see his team jubilant, loose, and, well, just plain happy. Can we blame him? Especially given what’s transpired the last few weeks?
Who would want to coach the Raiders now…
Well, maybe it wasn’t the smartest thing to put it all out there. At least, that’s how one senior NFL writer feels; wait for it, he’s from Boston. Ben Volin of the Boston Globe actually thinks Davis did some irreparable damage with Sunday’s display.
“Raiders players dance on Josh McDaniels’ grave, and Mark Davis ensures no self-respecting coach will ever want to coach his team.”
When you account for what took place during McDaniels’ tenure in Denver and now, with the Raiders, why would anyone give him another head coaching opportunity? Yes, he’s an excellent offensive coordinator, but as is evident from how he lost the Vegas locker room, he’s not a leader of men.
As far as the celebration, maybe the cigars were a bit much, but this team needed to exhale. If the win against the Giants meant anything, it represented a fresh start for everyone with the Raiders, from players to the top of the organization.

That was a total Raider move! And if a “Respectable” coach doesn’t want to be here because of that, then he wasn’t meant to be a Raiders coach!

Don’t people always celebrate when they get out of jail?
When I woke up the day after McZ were fired, I had to check my phone to make sure it wasn’t a dream. I wanted to dance too.
John Madden had 3 rules: Be on time, pay attention, and play like hell on Sunday. I’d bet McD had a million little bs rules, written and unwritten, that made life miserable for anyone under his thumb.
One thing people are overlooking with AP: his intelligence and cerebral nature. On the surface he’s a tough guy, but coach after coach, player after player talk about his intellect.
We outsmarted the Giants on Sunday. That’s worth celebrating.
Hilarious that the owner and Crosby being giddy–along with literally every other teammate and many coaches–at the prospect of an authoritarian coach without a clue why his “brilliant” schemes weren’t working and no idea how to adapt being fired supposedly makes the Raiders job terrible. They not only crushed the Giants and scored more points in a half than the McDaniels-led offense produced in any game this year, but the new guys with fours days of prep showed more decisiveness, creativity, and mettle than the team had all year. The entire team knew the coaching was killing them on the field and off. And please with McDaniels being a great OC; it reminds of when genius Norv Turner came here and had Randy Moss and other excellent weapons and also struggled to score. Offense was crisp, smart, gave QB the ability to improvise, used all our weapons–all things numberous fans were screaming for and “genius” McD found unable to do. Forget that clown and hail Davis for knowing when to fold them and Pierce for finding the heart of the team in four days where McD couldn’t do it in 1.5 years. F*** that guy.

HELL NAH they did NOT go to far. Get TF outta Dodge with that crap and let these guys celebrate!
I wont even say if the story is true about Josh McIdiot getting his feelings hurt after the team meeting HE CALLED to air grievances that I feel bad for the guy. He was head coach of a floundering team that should not of been. He is also a grown man. If he cant take constructive criticism for a meeting he called and got his feelings hurt then it really was past time for him to leave.
I think its safe to say that being in the NFL you definately cannot wear your heart or feelings on your sleeve. If you do then dont be hurt whem someone takes a swipe at them.
So….some tight-assed, white-collar, new englander that has no hesitation to judge someone (Mark) that he clearly thinks he’s better than would smugly scoff at such antics is a clear and undeniable sign that this “stunt” was perfectly executed. Owners like Mark, who love their players more than the money, should be cherished; but people like Ben would look at Mark’s appearance and thumb their nose up to that ‘dumb, dorky white guy’. Well, you can have your respectable coach back – oh yeah, how’s all that working out for you now that Brady is gone?
