You don’t ever want to read too much into things, but the most recent Heisman Trophy winner has set social media ablaze. We’re referring to LSU’s quarterback, Jayden Daniels. As you can imagine, his previous connection to current Las Vegas Raiders interim coach Antonio Pierce is making headlines.
We’ve previously written about Daniels and Pierce; the latter was a defensive assistant when Daniels was still a quarterback at Arizona State. Now running the Raiders squad, albeit on an interim basis, the link between the two is undeniable. While delivering his appreciation speech on Saturday night, Daniels made it a point to thank Pierce.
“To Herm Edwards, Marvin Lewis, and Antonio Pierce, thank you for your leadership and for entrusting me with the keys to the ASU program.”
As you can imagine, Raiders fans are running wild following the shout-out from Daniels to Pierce.

As far as Daniel’s accomplishment, it was well-deserved. In fact, it was a historical win. Daniels became the second LSU signal-caller to claim the award in the last five years, the other being Joe Burrow. Along with the Heisman, Daniels also won the Walter Camp Player of the Year honor, along with the Davey O’Brien Award bestowed on the country’s best quarterback.
While we don’t know the long-term status of Antonio Pierce, drafting Jayden Daniels would be a hit regardless of who the next Raiders head coach is.
