It might seem perplexing, but it’s possible that the Las Vegas Raiders might end up parting ways with Jimmy Garoppolo, akin to how Derek Carr went out. Or then again, it might be completely appropriate, all things considered.
What should the Raiders do with Jimmy Garoppolo at this point?
As most Raiders fans recall, Carr’s exit from the organization was a mess. First, he was benched. Then, the previous regime proceeded to cut him once they were unable to secure any capital in return for him. When looking back, it was a mess. With Garoppolo, it’s not exactly the same. Carr’s departure was a sore spot for many of his supporters—some, to this day, defend him.
Still, will history repeat itself with Jimmy G?
During last weekend’s disastrous matchup, some folks wondered if Aidan O’Connell should’ve sat amid notable struggles. In his stead, it would’ve been Garoppolo. However, the Raiders passed.
Why is that? Well, Raiders insider Hondo Carpenter gave a brief explanation of this musing during his show recently.
“There’s about $11 million that they can still get out of next year. If he gets injured, like Derek Carr last year, they’re not going to be able to get rid of him and that money is going to be guaranteed.”
The smart money says there’s no way owner Mark Davis wants to be on the hook if God forbid, Garoppolo is hurt seeing action. Right now, it just doesn’t make sense.
The Raiders need to further evaluate O’Connell down the stretch—is he the long-term solution or not? If he isn’t, you figure the team will draft one relatively early at this upcoming NFL draft. As for Garoppolo, it’s likely he’ll never take a snap for the Silver and Black again, barring an injury to O’Connell.

You would have to be insane to let Jimmy Chokesalot play another snap this year. Right now we can say it was Josh McIdiots fault for his terrible play & play calling lending credence that he is still a viable QB.
We can sell that for a possible deal/trade where we are not on the hook for all of his salary. At worst we cut him and eat 11 mil.
With all the QB injuries in the league this year I am sure there is a deal to be made somewhere saving us a lot of money.
Right now it has to be Aidan starting. You only get experience by playing. Its the school of hard knocks for Aidan but I am sure he is fine with it. I lnow I am good with it either good or bad for us as we are out of the playoff picture anyway. Let him play and learn.
