The Las Vegas Raiders’ offseason began on Monday, and there was a plethora of action surrounding the Silver and Black. Las Vegas spoke to potential candidates for their general manager position, while current Raiders personnel could be looking at other NFL jobs.
It was “Black Monday” around the league, with coaches and executives getting fired. Here’s a rundown of what the Raiders and personnel inside the franchise have done as the rumor mill begins to heat up.
Who are the Raiders speaking to?
NFL media’s Ian Rapoport began with his reporting, citing a source, that the Raiders want to speak with Indianapolis Colts assistant GM Ed Dodds for their potential general manager position.
Around the same time Rapoport shared his information, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported, citing a source, that Las Vegas has sought permission to interview San Francisco 49ers’ assistant GM Adam Peters for their general manager position. Additionally, Schefter notes that both the Raiders and Washington Commanders have expressed interest in Peters.
The Silver and Black’s quest to find a new general manager didn’t stop there. NFL media’s Tom Pelissero reported, citing a source, that the Raiders requested an interview with the Buffalo Bills’ director of player personnel, Terrance Gray.
Afterward, Pelissero shared that Las Vegas sought an interview with Trey Brown, the Bengals’ senior personnel executive, for their general manager position. Across the league, Brown is recognized as a sharp, diverse, and well-rounded candidate, boasting experience in multiple Super Bowls with different teams.
Las Vegas personnel that are speaking to other NFL teams
While the Raiders do their homework and speak to candidates regarding their general manager position, interim manager Champ Kelly also speaks with an NFL team in case he doesn’t get the Las Vegas job.
Mike Garafolo of NFL Media reports, citing a source, that the Carolina Panthers have actively sought an interview with Raiders interim general manager Champ Kelly for their open GM position. As Kelly remains in consideration in Vegas, another team has expressed interest in his candidacy.
Antonio Pierce is another Raiders personnel with a Plan B in case he doesn’t get the head coaching job. Sports Illustrated’s Hondo Carpenter reports that if Las Vegas doesn’t give Pierce the position, he’d be the top candidate for the New York Giants defensive coordinator position.
Finally, the Raiders’ current defensive coordinator, Patrick Graham, is also in the mix for the Los Angeles Chargers’ head coaching job. Pelissero reports that the AFC West rival has requested an interview with Graham, who had the NFL’s No. 6-ranked defense this 2023 season.
