A Raiders reunion in Las Vegas between head coach Antonio Pierce, potential 2024 top-three pick Jayden Daniels, and 49ers star Brandon Aiyuk would move the needle, right?
The ever-present conversation that’s dominated headlines since the “interim” tag was removed from Pierce’s title has been the quarterback situation. Pierce has publicly supported Aidan O’Connell this offseason; he went so far as to essentially anoint him as the starter without specifically saying it. However, that hasn’t quelled any conjecture regarding a trade in this year’s NFL draft. That’s especially true with regard to Jayden Daniels, whom Pierce is highly familiar with.
School Ties
The thing is, there are a lot of folks familiar with Pierce—enter Brandon Aiyuk.
In case you weren’t familiar with the situation, Pierce was at Arizona State when Daniels entered college football, prior to the future Heisman winner transferring to LSU. Aiyuk is also familiar with Pierce because of their own run at that school at the same time. Pierce was also Daniels’ recruiting coordinator. As you can deduce, the ties among the three run deep and go way back.
As for what’s happening now, Aiyuk went on to mention that Daniels would be a good fit with Pierce running the show in Vegas on Instagram Live.
“That’s a good fit, though; I ain’t gonna lie.”
A Raiders reunion?
As it is, Raiders fans are practically begging for their team to make a move for Daniels. One better thing would be to find a way to reunite Aiyuk with Pierce as well. It’s no surprise that the star wideout has praised Pierce, and the same could be said for Daniels. Regrettably, the NFL doesn’t work the same as the Madden video game franchise.
Maybe new general manager Tom Telesco has something in the works? A move where these three end up reuniting in Sin City would make a splash, and that’s undeniable. Whether it’s a realistic scenario remains to be seen.
