The Las Vegas Raiders have yet to play a down of football this season, but could they be in the running for Shedeur Sanders? If so, his father, who happens to be a Pro Football Hall of Famer, approves.
NFL legend Deion Sanders made waves when he took over the football program at the University of Colorado in December of 2022. While the on-field results have been mixed, he’s certainly helped to put the school in the national spotlight. Despite a lack of wins, the team isn’t without talented players, particularly Deion’s sons, Shedeur and Shilo. However, the one making waves is the quarterback, because why not? The position continues to serve as a lightning rod for conversation.
While some take issue with Shedeur’s attitude, the talent is there. For the Raiders, it’s a matter of where this upcoming season will take them. If the team is around the 10-win mark, the Colorado signal-caller would be, in theory, out of reach. Even so, Shedeur’s father did give what appears to be a seal of approval (h/t Vegas Sports Today).
“That would be nice for Shedeur & Shilo to play for the Raiders. I’m meeting with the team today.”
Would Antonio Pierce and the Raiders be a good fit for Shedeur Sanders?
It’s a fair question to ask when we look at the ship that Antonio Pierce is running. It’s an old-school, methodical approach—Raiders legends such as Howie Long have shed serious praise for it.
The program that Sanders is running at Colorado with his son as quarterback is quite different. The antics alone, like Deion’s online feuds with players, could potentially be detrimental to the Raiders’ relationship. By detrimental, we mean a possible distraction in the future in a scenario where this becomes a reality.
To his credit, Shedeur speaks his mind, and Pierce is also outspoken. Maybe they could vibe?
With all of that said, it’s too early to talk about a quarterback change in July. Nevertheless, if the Raiders struggle early on this season, expect mock drafts in December to send Shedeur to Las Vegas.
