Las Vegas Raiders News: Davante Adams

Davante Adams Weighs In On Las Vegas Raiders QB Situation

As the Las Vegas Raiders continue gearing up for their 2024 campaign, all eyes remain fixated on the team’s quarterback position. From analysts to fans, the NFL-world can’t stop discussing which signal caller they believe will be crowned Sin City’s starter this upcoming season. Davante Adams is no exception to these talks, either.

Earlier in the week, the first-team All-Pro wideout joined Speak On FS1 to give his input on the quarterbacks battling to throw his way.

“I want whoever’s going to look the best when it’s time,” Adams said when addressing the QB battle in Las Vegas. “At the end of the day, I don’t have a preference other than the fact that I want somebody that’s confident and ready to go when it’s time to do it.”

Confidence is a trait that first-year Raiders quarterback Gardner Minshew has displayed since his first days in the NFL. ‘Minshew Mania‘ wasn’t an accident, after all. Purdue alum Aidan O’Connell has exhibited a large amount of confidence himself heading into his second season. Even Brian Hoyer couldn’t help but be impressed with his former teammate.

Both of these quarterbacks fit the bill for the type of player Adams wants under center. However, the 31-year-old wideout believes one of these QBs currently has an advantage over the other.

“I think right now, if I had to say, I think Aidan has the job because obviously he was here before and that’s the way that it was,” Adams noted. “[O’Connell] was running with the 1’s more and until Gardner comes in and takes that job away from him, I think it’s Aidan’s job right now.

“He’s doing what he’s gotta do to hold onto it.”

Although Davante Adams believes O’Connell is the front-runner right now, he also acknowledges quarterback battles don’t wrap up in mid-July. After all, the Raiders have yet to begin this year’s training camp.

For Adams, he believes training camp will indicate who the next QB1 in Las Vegas will be.

“Throughout camp when we start really going, the pads are on and we’re doing the real deal, I think that’s when we’ll be able to decide who the guy will be,” the star wideout explained.

In his 10 starts last season, O’Connell led the Raiders to a record of 5-5. Under Minshew, Indianapolis enjoyed a 7-6 record in 2023, including a monster victory over the Silver and Black in Week 17.

Training camp for the Raiders will begin on June 21st, although the veterans won’t show up until the 23rd. The battle between these two signal callers will continue then.
