Davante Adams Talks Baseless Trade Rumors Involving Him – “Extremely Annoying”

July was an eventful month for Las Vegas Raiders wideout Davante Adams; not in a way he liked, however.

It all began when rumors spread that the New York Jets were working on a deal to pry Adams from the Raiders. These rumors, albeit baseless, stemmed from Aaron Rodgers’ comments endorsing his former teammate who Rodgers won a pair of Most Valuable Player awards alongside. Fuel was later added to the fire when Adams praised his former quarterback right back.

Adams’ agents quickly stepped in and shot down these rumors, referring to them as “unfound speculation.” By the next day, trade rumors involving Adams and the Jets stopped making rounds on social media.

His agents’ words didn’t stop trade rumors about Adams and the 49ers from popping up, though.

In the meantime, Adams had no desire to part ways with the Raiders. Las Vegas had no intentions of moving on from their first-team All-Pro wideout, either. They never did. Back in October, near the trade deadline, the Jets inquired about the availability of Adams. Simply put, the six-time Pro Bowler wasn’t available.

For Davante Adams, seeing his name being part of numerous baseless trade rumors wasn’t fun. It was “extremely annoying,” in fact, and still is,

Las Vegas Raiders superstar Davante Adams clears up baseless trade rumors – again

Earlier in the week, CBS reporter Jonathan Jones got the chance to speak with Adams during training camp. Among the topics discussed were the trade rumors involving Adams and how the 31-year-old felt about these rumors.

“The offseason is boring, so they need things to talk about,” Adams explained. “Unfortunately, with the dramas that we have, talking about one seven gets some clicks. They take advantage of that to get people’s attention.”

At the end of the day, I’m not the one that’s feeding any of that stuff and my teammates know that, my family knows that. I’m just focused on being the best player that I can be to come out here and help this team have a chance at holding up that trophy at the end of the year.”

Despite Adams’ best efforts to clear up such rumors, the rumors keep coming. “It’s definitely not over, as far as how people continue to speak on it,” the three-time first-team All-Pro noted.

In any case, Adams’ tenure with the Silver and Black will keep on keeping on. No amount of trade rumors on social media will change that.
