Raiders News: Davante Adams, DeSean Jackson, and more.

Former Pro Bowl WR Stirring Pot With Regard To Raiders And Davante Adams

DeSean Jackson decided to stir up tensions between Davante Adams and the Las Vegas Raiders as the NFL season approaches in just a few days. The timing was impeccable; it only serves to add fuel to the fire that has been a consistent storyline this offseason.

The “story” surrounding Adams just simply won’t go away; rather, it’s provided ammunition for so many folks. However, it’s all been conjecture—secondhand knowledge if that. Even Adams’ camp went as far as to shoot down speculation, and still, people won’t let it go. On the other hand, it’s one thing for talking heads and pundits to make headlines out of a non-story—what’s different is that Jackson is a former player who claims he spoke to No. 17 himself.

Raiders News: Is Davante Adams not “happy” in Las Vegas?

While speaking on one of Raider Nation’s favorite shows, The Herd with Colin Cowherd, Jackson laid it all out.

“This one’s tough because me and Davante, we’ve talked, and I hate to do it because I don’t want to be the guy that’s ‘Oh, D-Jax said this and said that’ but at the end of the day, Davante isn’t happy.”

Another factor that’s played a role in seeing Davante’s name consistently pop up in “rumors” was his appearance on Netflix’s Receiver series. Clearly, the All-Pro wideout wasn’t happy with former head coach Josh McDaniels or Jimmy Garoppolo (his quarterback last season). But that was last season, prior to Antonio Pierce taking over and the subsequent culture change.

Then again, Jackson also did make a fair statement with regard to the quarterback situation.

“You go from Aaron Rodgers, then you come to the Las Vegas Raiders… and it just didn’t quite work out, and so now I just don’t think he’s really that happy there.”

Regardless of your stance on Jackson’s statement, one thing remains undeniable in all this. Neither Gardner Minshew nor Aidan O’Connell are Aaron Rodgers—at this point, they’re not even Derek Carr; so, what if Jackson’s statement holds some weight? There’s no doubt Adams is fully aware of the drop-off in quarterback talent that he has been dealt. What we don’t know is how patient No. 17 will be, especially if the Raiders struggle early on.

We may find ourselves revisiting this evolving narrative.
