It’s not easy being a Las Vegas Raiders player; just ask running back Zamir White. Fans have apparently seen enough from the Georgia product, according to a recent live poll.
The running back position for the Silver and Black saw significant changes this offseason. Most notably, Josh Jacobs made his way to Green Bay. White was anointed to replace the former star, but rather than take the mantle and take off, the former fourth-round pick has faced much scrutiny.
Is all of the scrutiny warranted, though?
Prior to Sunday’s against the Cleveland Browns, White had yet to eclipse 50 yards rushing. All the while, White was proving to be ineffective in the red zone; in his stead, Alexander Mattison became a reliable weapon. Despite breaking off a 17-yard run on Sunday, White had a costly fumble late in the contest that nearly derailed the momentum.
White’s overall game is receiving lots of criticism, namely his apparent lack of vision and now his reliability (his hands in particular). The fact is, if the Raiders offensive line is opening up lanes, White is mostly ineffective. In other words, he can’t make something out of nothing without dominant blocking. Furthermore, one could argue that he is a one-dimensional player, lacking significant contributions to the passing game.
What are Raiders fans saying about Zamir White?
If you search for his name on Twitter, you’ll be met with an ugly outcome—so, we’ll spare you those details. Still, we decided to let our readers make their case; we’ve posted a live poll as you can see below.
Raider Nation, should the Raiders make Alexander Mattison the RB1?

Right now, it’s not looking good for White. While you could make a case for fans being emotional following a win, White’s performances thus far have been highly underwhelming. Even head coach Antonio Pierce has said that White’s backup (Mattison) will be seeing more touches moving forward. Perhaps No. 3 isn’t quite ready for the spotlight.
