Three Clues Davante Adams May Stay With The Las Vegas Raiders

Unless someone has been sleeping under a rock, everyone has been made well-aware of the Davante Adams drama by now. After two mediocre seasons with the Las Vegas Raiders, Adams has become frustrated with the team’s lack of offensive production. It has been well reported the six-time Pro Bowler “prefers” to be traded to a team that permits the opportunity for a championship.

Despite the feeling of a near departure, there has not been much progress on a trade.

Adams has not been very active on social media aside from a series of tweets referencing poet Edgar Allen Poe. Many believed these tweets connected him to the Baltimore Ravens; however, according to Tashan Reed of The Athletic, the Ravens are now uninterested in trading for the star receiver.

Perhaps Adams won’t be on the move after all.

Antonio Pierce reminds the media Davante Adams is still a member of the Las Vegas Raiders

There was speculation that Adams’ injury had less to do with actually being hurt and more to do with no longer wanting to play for the Raiders. Head coach Antonio Pierce addressed this, confirming Adams’ absence is in fact due to an injury.

“He is still a Raider,” Pierce said. “When he is healthy and we can play him, we will.”

Additionally, Pierce announced in his presser that Adams had been rehabbing with the Raiders entirely. One would think, if the issue was with the team, Adams would not be present.

Pierce and Adams are also in communication according to the head coach. “[Davante Adams] is in good spirits,” Pierce said. “We talked and everything is good.”

After what seemed to be a disconnect between the two, communication is a sign in the right direction. The All-Pro receiver is, in fact, nursing a real injury.

Trade talks have taken a pause

Adams only “prefers’ to leave Las Vegas because of the offensive struggles and lack of success. What if the Raiders can fix those problems, or what if the Silver and Black are the best option?

The 31-year-old’s preferred destinations were with former teammates Aaron Rodgers and the Jets or Derek Carr and the Saints. Coincidentally, these are the two teams with the largest changes this past week.

The New York Jets fired their head coach and Derek Carr will be sidelined for a couple weeks with an injury of his own. In the meantime, the Jets are still pondering if adding the stellar receiver will push them into championship contention.

Offensively, the Jets and Saints are not compelling options as of recently.

Beyond that, Las Vegas switched to second-year quarterback Aidan O’Connell this week. Adams has publicly shown tremendous support for the young man from Purdue. Benching Gardner Minshew could have been what No. 17 wanted all along.

Hondo Carpenter “Possibility” post

It seems Adams returning to the team has always been on the table, but it’s now more likely than it ever was. With the Raiders reportedly not being offered the compensation they are asking for, Adams could remain a Raider.

Only time will tell which team the all-time great receiver lands with.
