Raiders WR Davante Adams & Packers QB Aaron Rodgers, Plus, Josh Jacobs

Did The Raiders “Win” In The Davante Adams Trade?

Well, the saga is finally over for the Silver and Black. The Las Vegas Raiders have officially shipped off All-Pro star wideout Davante Adams to the New York Jets (you can add disgruntled to that description as well). So, the question is, did general manager Tom Telesco win in this deal?

The Davante Adams saga is over for the Raiders…

Raiders woke up to their coffee and breaking news that Telesco had finally pulled the trigger. After weeks of speculation involving multiple teams including the New Orleans Saints and Kansas City Chiefs, Adams will reunite with Aaron Rodgers in the Big Apple.

The much-maligned star diva from Netflix’s series, Receiver, got his wish in the end.

In terms of compensation, Telesco managed to have Jets foot the bill concerning Adams’ remaining money from his contract. As for draft picks, the Raiders will be receiving a conditional third-round pick. However, there’s a chance that selection can become a second-rounder if certain conditions are met; those include if Adams is once again an All-Pro.

After missing the last three games due to a reported “hamstring injury,” it appears Adams couldn’t wait to leave for New York. Regardless of how you feel about Adams’ exit, not all of this falls on his shoulders.

The fact is, the previous Raiders regime acquired him without having a plan in place at quarterback. More importantly, the draft capital that was used to nab his services would’ve been of great use. That’s especially true if you’re a general manager of Telesco’s caliber.

As far as who “won” this trade, it’ll largely depend on how the Jets perform from here on out. For the Raiders, it’ll depend on who they end up drafting to use that pick unless the pick is used in a move during draft day next year.
