It has become customary to associate a recently released big name in the NFL with the Las Vegas Raiders. Well, you can add former New York Giants starting quarterback Daniel Jones to that list.
The quarterback “competition” we consistently heard about during training camp was the initial concern everyone identified. Raider Nation, while sold on the prospect of an “elite” defense, could not have anticipated the devastating injuries. Regardless, neither Gardner Minshew nor Aidan O’Connell was the answer, and for many of us, we knew it all along. However, we all drank the “Kool-Aid.” Fast forward to late November, and now, Jones might be the answer to the Raiders’ quarterback woes.
If you’re looking at the statistics objectively, Jones had a notable run from 2019 through 2022 (though there was a lack of team success). He tossed 60 touchdown passes versus 34 interceptions, accumulating a 64% completion rate. Regardless of your opinion about “Danny Dimes,” his talent surpasses that of the Raiders’ current quarterback group by a significant margin.
If your plan is to indeed draft a signal-caller at the top of the NFL draft next year, why not have someone in place to allow the incoming rookie time to develop? A true bridge quarterback gives you some insurance; why throw your future franchise player into the fire if it isn’t necessary?
As you can imagine, Raider Nation was quite vocal when we proposed Jones as a bridge solution.
Raider Nation, how do we feel about a scenario where Las Vegas brings in Daniel Jones and you begin to shape next year’s quarterback room?

The Raiders are part of the Daniel Jones sweepstakes…
Fortunately, Raider Nation does not manage the team. General manager Tom Telesco will take action if he finds Jones’ services compelling. Whether fans approve or not, Telesco is rebuilding this roster as he sees fit—whether head coach Antonio Pierce will be present to carry out this vision remains a question.
Speaking of Telesco, league insider Ian Rapoport is reporting that the Raiders are an “option” for Jones. It’ll be an intriguing development to monitor over the next few days. For now, Telesco, Pierce, and the Raiders have to contend with their AFC West rival, the Denver Broncos.
