In our latest AFC West roundup, Maxx Crosby, the star pass rusher for the Las Vegas Raiders, is once again a finalist for an award. Additionally, does Raider Nation harbor animosity towards Colorado head coach Deion Sanders? Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Chargers face devastating news as they lose a crucial offensive player.
Do Raiders fans want no part of Deion Sanders?
Most Raiders fans are over this season, and who can blame them when you take into account the absolute mess this year has been? Looking ahead, the offseason looks to be highly intriguing—Antonio Pierce’s future, the NFL draft, etc. As far as the draft goes, it might indeed come down to two Colorado players in Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders. Recently, the latter has gained significant attention, largely due to the influence of his father, Coach Prime, who also serves as his head coach.
The Denver Post recently ran a story where they claim that Raider Nation wants no part of the elder Sanders because of the “drama.” When a Raiders fan, who is also a Colorado fan, was asked about the possibility of Deion taking over in Las Vegas, the fan didn’t hold back.
“I’ve watched enough CU football. I think I feel like he would be a good quarterback for the Raiders. I’m a little concerned about his dad coming along. I don’t know if I want the father-son combo. I think I would rather just have the kid, yeah.”
Well, one player that Raiders fans don’t have to worry about causing “drama” is Maxx Crosby.
The AFC West is home to an exemplary teammate in No. 98.
Since entering the league, Crosby has exemplified the ideal teammate. As the face of the Raiders, he’s once again been nominated for the Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award; this will mark his third time.
While the Silver and Black have struggled this season, Crosby has done his best and more to keep the team afloat. However, production aside, Crosby’s role with the team goes beyond sacks—as head coach Antonio Pierce recently said, No. 98 is a true leader.
“I think Maxx does everything right, man. You know, he is a professional; he is a pro’s pro. First, in the building, last one to leave. Great teammate, hard worker. Takes no plays off.”
While the Raiders will undoubtedly end up finishing in last place out in the AFC West, one team that still has their playoff hopes alive is the Los Angeles Chargers. Regrettably, they’ve suffered a blow to their chances this week.
Chargers lose J.K. Dobbins to knee injury…
Since coming to Los Angeles, Dobbins has been one of the most consistent weapons in Greg Roman’s offense. After starting out the year with 130-plus rushing yards against both the Raiders and Carolina Panthers, he’s tacked on eight touchdowns on the ground, all in all, just one short of his career high in a single season (9).
Unfortunately, Dobbins went down with a knee injury during their matchup with the Baltimore Ravens. According to league insider Ian Rapoport, Dobbins will miss their upcoming game against the Atlanta Falcons—his status beyond that contest is also up in the air. Considering the pivotal stretch of games that are upcoming for the Bolts, Dobbins’ injury is as untimely as it gets. While Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh couldn’t offer much of an update following Dobbins’ exit, we now know the devastating news.
Chargers fans can only hope he will be in time for a run at the postseason as the team sits at 7-4 with November coming to a close.
