Raiders News: Pete Carroll, Russell Wilson, and more.

3 Bold Predictions For Las Vegas Raiders Offseason

Ben Johnson’s decision to choose the Chicago Bears over the Las Vegas Raiders disrupted the offseason. However, minority owner Tom Brady and his team had several strategies in place—you adapt and boy, did they.

Pete Carroll of USC and Seattle Seahawks lore has taken the reins as head coach in Sin City. Above him, John Spytek is now the general manager who has a strong background in player personnel. The Raiders now have a solid foundation in place. It certainly inspires more confidence than Josh McDaniels and Dave Ziegler did. Carroll is no slouch in this area either; he’s consistently demonstrated the ability to build a roster from the top to the bottom.

Though there are concerns surrounding Carroll’s age, the Raiders will look to establish a new winning culture in the next three years regardless of that. For now, let’s have some predictions for this current offseason.

Prediction No. 1: Pete Carroll and Russell Wilson reunite

While quarterback is a glaring question mark on the roster, Carroll fixes this with the signing of Russell Wilson. The tandem was extremely successful in Seattle and even visited two Super Bowls together. However, the last couple of seasons have not been commendable for “Russ.” Since 2021, the Pro Bowl quarterback has had a 41.8 winning percentage.

Wilson will be a free agent this offseason, but the Pittsburgh Steelers may try to retain him. Besides the reunion with his head coach, there is another incentive. Broncos head coach Sean Payton and the quarterback had a troubled tenure in Denver. Payton decided to release the 37-year-old despite the heavy penalties that would occur. In Las Vegas, Wilson and Carroll could get revenge on Payton together.

Prediction No. 2: Kolton Miller gets traded for draft capital

Although the starting left tackle is currently under contract, he does not have guaranteed money. He is now in the last year of his contract and will be an unrestricted free agent in 2026. The UCLA alum has yet to reach a Pro Bowl nod despite outstanding play. The blind side of Raider quarterbacks has been protected for six years.

It is disappointing that another talented player will leave but the writing is against the wall. Miller’s retention will require a new contract. Additionally, the 29-year-old is coming off of many injuries. Paying the left tackle would force a likely overpay. Compensation for No. 74 could equal at least a Day 2 pick if a team is desperate. Hopefully, the two sides can come to an agreement, but for now, we can only make a prediction.

Prediction No. 3: Chris Godwin signs with Raiders

Without the wide receiver talent of Davante Adams, pass catchers are few in Las Vegas. There’s potential with Tre Tucker and while Jakobi Meyers is a notable target in the Raiders offense, something’s lacking.

Chris Godwin was poised for a career year prior to his injury. He averaged 82 yards per game before suffering a leg injury that derailed his season. In seven games, the 28-year-old totaled 576 yards and five touchdowns.

Because he is coming off of a terrible injury, there will be a slight discount on Godwin’s contract. Imagine a group with Godwin, Meyers, and Tucker—the potential could certainly be worth the investment; thankfully, the Raiders can more than afford it.
