Regardless of how you feel about the Kansas City Chiefs and their path thus far, the sole AFC West squad alive is headed to the Super Bowl again.
The Chiefs are just one win away from making history. After a thrilling win over the Buffalo Bills, Kansas City just has to overcome the Philadelphia Eagles. Let’s get into this week’s knee-jerk reactions.
AFC West Knee-Jerk Reactions: Chiefs 32, Bills 29
Here We Go Again…
This three-year run is starting to get a little repetitive. Sunday’s game felt eerily like last year’s divisional round tilt between these two teams. The Chiefs and Bills played a tight game, and just when it seemed like the defending champs were finally going to be dethroned, Buffalo came up short again. Now, the Chiefs find themselves in the Super Bowl against yet another familiar postseason foe.
Honestly, it is kind of fitting, isn’t it? The Eagles were the team the Chiefs beat in their first title of this three-peat attempt. On top of that, Philadelphia obviously holds a lot of significance for Andy Reid. His being the first NFL head coach to win three consecutive Super Bowls and winning two of them against the organization that fired him is about as poetic as this sport gets. This is like what Jon Gruden and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers did to the Raiders, but on steroids.
Storylines aside, it should be a terrific game, much like the Super Bowl LVII matchup was. With the combination of Andy Reid (and Steve Spagnuolo) and Patrick Mahomes, the Chiefs may have the best coaching staff and quarterback ever, but Eagles general manager Howie Roseman has assembled one of the best rosters this league has seen in quite some time. Regardless of the outcome of this rematch, viewers can expect an exciting spectacle.
