Despite currently holding the sixth-overall pick, Las Vegas Raiders general manager John Spytek could have some options if he’s looking to trade back. The question is, should he pull the trigger?
In case you haven’t been following the news with the New Orleans Saints, there could be something brewing. It’s highly likely that Derek Carr has thrown his last pass in the bayou. Well, this means that the Saints would be in the market for a quarterback. Therefore, they might want to move up, giving Spytek a possible trade partner.
On the other hand, it’s difficult to forecast what exactly Spytek is thinking. The Raiders acquired Geno Smith this offseason, giving themselves some time to figure out the quarterback issue. Realistically, Smith should be entrenched in as the starting signal-caller for the next two years.
That’s fine, but what about after that? What’s the plan after Smith has played his last down for the Silver and Black? These are fair questions. However, it’s possible that the Raiders could be out of luck with the sixth pick; Cam Ward will likely be the first-overall pick, meanwhile Shedeur Sanders could be gone within the top five. For the love of God, don’t tell me Jaxson Dart is the answer at six, don’t buy the hype.
What do you do if you’re Raiders GM John Spytek?
Realistically, if John Spytek does trade down to the ninth pick (Saints), or even right outside the top-ten, the Raiders could still walk away with an immediate starter if need be. Of course, there will be those who say that if Ashton Jeanty is available at six, you take him. Well, if only it were that easy, right?
