In the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft, the Las Vegas Raiders selected wide receiver Jack Bech. Bech has been trending in the news due to the tragic passing of his brother, Tiger. Tiger was murdered on New Year’s Day in the New Orleans Bourbon Street shooting. His brother was a star kick-returner at Princeton University in 2018. Nevertheless, this has added an extra layer of resilience to Bech’s daily struggles.
“After the passing of my brother, I let out all of my emotions on the field,” Bech said.
After his senior season at TCU, Jack performed in the Senior Bowl. In the end, Bech earned the Most Valuable Player award, which skyrocketed his draft value. His game-winning touchdown is what solidified his earning of the award. The American Team head coach, Bubba Ventrone, had high praise for the Senior Bowl MVP.
“Not only did he perform at an extremely high level every day, he is an incredible person,” Ventrone said.
Jack Bech has a “Maxx Crosby Mentality”
You can describe the second-round pick as a ‘dog.’ No. 18 at TCU is the type of person that opposing teams should not pick a fight with. He is passionate and loves the game of football.
“I just cannot wait to come in and work hard,” Bech said. “Get in there early, stay in there late.”
Because of this signing, there is now someone who can match Crosby’s energy on offense. Additionally, he and Crosby have both battled enormous adversity in their lives. After the passing of his brother, he also endured the loss of his former teammate, Kyren Lacy.
Despite all of this, the wide receiver is still hungry and chasing his dream.
How does Jack Bech change the offense?
Contact, contact, contact! At 6-foot-1 and 215 pounds, the new Raiders wide receiver is not the largest, but he is very physical. Bech is strong and proved it with his 19 reps on the bench press at the combine. The data suggests he could play a similar role to Brock Bowers on the field. Obviously he is not the run blocker Bowers is, but he is a better zone threat.
At TCU, he showed wonderful box-out ability and ball tracking. Additionally, he can break tackles with stiff arms and toughness. He rarely drops passes when targeted. In college, he exhibited a 90 percent catch rate in every season.
Before the draft, there was a glaring need for another receiver besides Jakobi Meyers. A stud who can block and run solid routes answered that prayer. Las Vegas was in the bottom ten of red zone touchdowns in 2024. Bech adds another red zone threat along with his new teammate, Ashton Jeanty. Hopefully this new duo will help mitigate that glaring issue.
The new Raider likes to compare himself to Cooper Kupp. If he even shows glimpses of his comparison, the TCU alum will be a star for the Silver and Black.
