Las Vegas Raiders fans are finally getting something they deserve; seeing two team legends get portrayed on screen by a Oscar-winning duo.
Telling the history of the Raiders has been done before via documentaries and written materials. However, the “Hollywood” treatment just hits different. As many have heard, there’s an upcoming film by Amazon MGM Films that tells the story of former Raiders head coach John Madden.
Technically not a biopic, it appears to be focusing on his transition after coaching. That’s where he becomes a legend (again) in his own right as a broadcaster and face of a video game franchise.
Still, it’s obviously going to show some of this time as the leader of the Raiders. Up to this task will be Oscar-winning tour de force Nicolas Cage. Alongside Cage, we have another Oscar winner in Christian Bale who will bring to life the “Maverick,” Al Davis. Social media has been ablaze following a sneak peek in the form of a first image, shown here.
Regardless of your feelings on the casting, it’s going to be refreshing seeing this important Raiders duo get some screen time. It’ll definitely be intriguing how Cage depicts Madden (as well as Bale depicting Davis). Why is that? Because Raider Nation doesn’t tolerate disrespect for their lore or the legends that have put on the Silver and Black.
First, you have Pete Carroll coming to the Raiders. If that’s not enough, Ashton Jeanty gets drafted with sixth overall pick. Now, Al Davis and John Madden are coming to life on screen. Let’s be real, this must be a glorious time for Raiders fans.
