Perhaps the most intriguing member of the Las Vegas Raiders’ 2025 NFL Draft class is cornerback Darien Porter—that’s a sentiment that Maxx Crosby reiterated earlier in the week. On Wednesday, Sin City’s defensive backs coach Marcus Robertson joined in on the Porter talk in a conversation with KTNV.
“I’m an Iowa State alumnus, so…” Robertson jokingly started the conversation with.
“I love the pick. I love the guy; I think he’s got a lot of physical gifts. He’s got the length and the speed. He has taken, to me, big leaps. Like, from one week to the next. As far as the coaching and training and all those types of things. Simply because of the fact that he just moved over from being a wide receiver to the defensive side of the ball late in his career in college. And he is making tremendous jumps, in my opinion. He’s got a chance to be a really good player.”
What Crosby said about the 24-year-old isn’t too much different. In fact, much of Porter’s description is more fact than opinion.
For example, Porter does indeed have the length. His 80″ wingspan placed him in the 95th percentile, while his 33 1/8″ arms landed him in the 93rd percentile. And when it comes to speed, the Iowa alum certainly has that as well. That’s evident by his 4.30 40-time.
