Las Vegas Raiders News: Jack Jones

Ex Raiders CB And Pass Deflection Machine Jack Jones Rumored To Land With Vikings

Las Vegas Raiders fans might like to forget but it wasn’t that long ago they were “gassing up” Jack Jones as a top NFL corner. Even so, Jones might end up landing in the NFC North if one prediction comes true.

Jones’ run with the Raiders was a mixed bag, to be honest. At times, it seemed like he was destined for something special. Intercepting Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and staring him down as he did is an image that’ll live on forever. That much is undeniable.

Should Jack Jones get another shot following his Raiders stint?

However, the rest of his play is the subject of debate. Some people accused him of taking plays off, or as it became known, “making business decisions.” Still, his numbers were solid. In fact, he was fifth in the NFL last year with 16 pass deflections.

What’s interesting is that new incoming head coach Pete Carroll opted to not give Jones a chance this season. Carroll has been widely renowned for his work with defensive backs. His track record in Seattle backs up that notion. Naturally, you’d think Jones would be the next in line. Clearly, Carroll felt otherwise. That being said, Bleacher Report’s Moe Moton predicts Jones will land with the Minnesota Vikings.

The Vikings haven’t re-signed Shaquill Griffin or Stephon Gilmore. They added Isaiah Rodgers and Jeff Okudah, but over the last two years, Jones has started more games than both of those players combined. Jones could be a veteran upgrade and spot starter in case cornerback Mekhi Blackmon needs extended time to bounce back from a torn ACL.

It’s very intriguing what Jones could offer the Vikings. Don’t forget, Brian Flores, their current defensive coordinator is one of the best football minds in the game right now. If anyone can steer Jones in the adequate direction, it’s him. Talent, speed, or size has never been the issue for Jones. Pierce recognized that in him a long time ago.

No, it’s been his questionable effort at times. That’s something the Vikings will not tolerate in any fashion from the former Las Vegas Raiders corner.
