There’s a reason why Las Vegas Raiders QB1 Geno Smith gets paid the big bucks, and he won’t let anyone forget that.
South Florida Express, a 7-on-7 football program, ended in fiery fashion as Sin City’s starting quarterback reminded his competitors of his stature in the National Football League.
”That’s why they pay me the big bucks. That’s why I get paid the big bucks,” Smith shouted at his opposition post-game. “I’ll do it.”
The competitive spirit of the 34-year-old shined through this weekend, sparking an interaction that Raider Nation has mixed views on.
For some, the competitive spirit seen throughout the clip, found here, is a thing of beauty. For others, it’s an unwelcoming interaction.
In truth, the viral clip that took X by storm is nothing more than Geno Smith being Geno Smith. A guy who makes it a point to get involved with the sport in many different ways, who’s always looking to compete, and who loves creating relationships.
All of the things that Raiders head coach Pete Carroll has come to love about Smith. And, more than anything, those things are the exact reasons why Smith’s paycheck is what it is.
Having the sixth-most wins among all quarterbacks in the NFL since 2022 certainly doesn’t hurt, either.
“This is how we talk in Dade county, I’m sorry you might not understand,” Smith wrote on X to clarify any negativity surrounding the interaction.
“You don’t have to explain nothing to nobody brother.. that’s my QB,” wrote All-Pro edge rusher Maxx Crosby in support of his first-year teammate.
