Last Thursday, the Las Vegas Raiders decided to release their star defensive tackle, Christian Wilkins. After suffering a season-ending injury in 2024, No. 94 never returned to practice again. Because of complications with recovery, the Silver and Black decided to move on.
“With no clear path or plan for future return to play from Christian,” the Raiders said. “This transaction is necessary for the entire organization to move forward.”
However, rumors arose and it seemed that this was not the end to the story. The release sent a whirlwind through the NFLPA and now a grievance has been filed. Nonetheless, Las Vegas could still be on the hook financially.
Adam Schefter Joins the Pat McAfee Show to Unveil the Truth
Rumors circulated on social media about a strange incident involving Wilkins, but sources within the organization were hesitant to comment on the matter. On Monday, the truth emerged when NFL insider Adam Schefter appeared on the Pat McAfee Show and disclosed the details of what actually transpired.
“What everyone is tip-toeing around is that Christian [Wilkins] playfully went to kiss a teammate on top of his head,” Schefter said. “That teammate felt offended by it.”
In addition to his disagreements with the front office regarding his injury, he was also contributing to an uncomfortable atmosphere in the locker room. This situation could potentially support the Raiders’ case in their grievance with the NFL Players Association.
Social Media Reactions Tell This Story Is Not Over
Former San Francisco 49er Jonathan Feliciano voiced his opinion about Wilkins. Despite the lack of specifics in his claim, it is possible to draw connections. In this situation, the two players have never shared a locker room, which means that the information cannot be considered factual. He is speaking from an outside perspective.
Additionally, former Raiders defensive back Gareon Conley responded to the drama. He alluded to hearing suspicious activity from Wilkins in their college matchup. Not to mention, there have been discomforting videos spreading through social media proving these notions.
Instead of serving as the climax of the story, this appears to be just the beginning. Pro Football Talk has responded, stating that they do not consider this instance to be the major incident. Is it possible that there is even more to uncover regarding this story?
