Las Vegas Raiders News: A Trade For Brian Thomas Jr.?

Brian Thomas Jr. to Vegas? Raiders Enter Dream-Trade Territory

A surprising report surfaced Saturday suggesting the Jacksonville Jaguars could trade star wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. this season—a move that would instantly make him the top target in Las Vegas. Raiders fans can dream, but competition for the young playmaker would be fierce.

What would it cost to land Brian Thomas Jr.?

Thomas, a former LSU standout, was a first-round pick in one of the strongest wide receiver classes in recent memory—a group headlined by Marvin Harrison Jr., Malik Nabers and Rome Odunze. Selected 23rd overall in the 2024 NFL draft, he’s not a player the Jaguars would part with lightly.

The rookie sensation posted 1,282 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns last season, cementing his value despite recent inconsistency. Jacksonville would likely demand at least a first-round pick—if not more. A realistic offer from Las Vegas might include Jakobi Meyers and a second-rounder.

Should the Raiders make the move?

Right now, the Raiders are not a championship contender. Despite investing in Geno Smith, the veteran quarterback has yet to deliver on expectations. A long-term answer under center feels necessary before adding another premium receiver.

There’s also a financial hurdle. Brock Bowers and Ashton Jeanty will soon be due major paydays, and stacking expensive talent on offense could stunt growth on the defensive side.

And while Thomas would elevate the unit immediately, his arrival could slow the development of young receivers Jack Bech and Donte Thornton Jr.—two rookies the Raiders are eager to cultivate.

Thomas Jr. would certainly be a flashy addition. However, for a roster still establishing its foundation, Las Vegas might be wiser to forgo the blockbuster trade. On the other hand, if their goal is to fill seats, a high-profile trade could achieve that if it comes to fruition.
