Raiders News: Devin Lloyd, and more.

Devin Lloyd could potentially reset the entire Raiders defense in 2026

According to Ian Rapoport, the Las Vegas Raiders saw a resurgence from Devin White this season. Even so, linebacker remains one of their top priorities for 2026. The roster lacks anyone capable of reliably covering tight ends or running backs, and as of now, only Tommy Eichenberg and Cody Lindenberg are under contract for next year.

Given the need, spending aggressively in free agency is a viable path. The top target is Jacksonville’s Devin Lloyd, a Defensive Player of the Year candidate whose combination of tackling efficiency and ball production sets him apart. The Utah product is arguably the best coverage playmaker at the position.

Still, free agency alone will not be enough. Las Vegas must also invest in the draft to stabilize the linebacker room long-term.

Devin Lloyd won’t come cheap, unfortunately…

After a standout 2025 season, the 27-year-old linebacker is in line for a significant payday in 2026. Currently, over 50 linebackers earn more than this former first-round pick. While he may not be considered superior to Fred Warner or Roquan Smith, he is still expected to seek a contract that surpasses theirs.

Warner signed a three-year, $63 million deal this year, setting a clear benchmark. To land Lloyd, the Raiders would likely need to approach or surpass $22 million per season. He would take over the green dot, anchor the defense, and immediately become another player opponents must account for on every snap.

Outside of quarterback and the offensive line, no position requires more investment for Las Vegas than linebacker.

Do the Raiders have a “Plan B” this offseason?

Finding a reliable linebacker is never simple. Veterans such as Bobby Wagner and Lavonte David will be available, but the Raiders need a player who can contribute for multiple seasons, not a short-term patch. With several other roster holes to address, investing in youth should be a priority.

Leo Chenal is an intriguing option to poach from Kansas City. He brings AFC West experience and is only 25. Quay Walker offers a similar blend of upside and physical traits, and the former first-round pick still has room to grow. Both would provide immediate upgrades without the long-term risk that comes with aging stars.

Regardless of the path, Las Vegas must elevate the position group in 2026. The question is which free agent they should target to anchor the defense moving forward.
