Raiders News Players Meeting: Maxx Crosby, Antonio Pierce

Raider Nation Chatter: Maxx Crosby story refuses to die thanks to national media

For many Las Vegas Raiders fans, it’s the news story that simply won’t die. However, maybe there’s smoke to the fire surrounding pass star rusher Maxx Crosby.

The Maxx Crosby and Raiders saga continues…

Raider Nation has seen scenarios like this play out many times before. They grow attached, even loyal, to individual players before the organization decides it’s time to move on. Khalil Mack, Derek Carr, Josh Jacobs, and now, the rumors won’t stop surrounding Crosby. The NFL Combine, the annual showcase for the incoming collegiate talent, was essentially ground zero for so much of this conjecture.

This morning, Raiders fans woke up to a report by Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated, by way of Monday Morning Quarterback, in which he outlined the latest regarding No. 98.

Essentially, Breer pointed to a move happening as soon as this week. What’s really interesting in what Breer shared was his belief that neither party wants this to potentially drag on for more than it has to. “I don’t think the Raiders want to go through the song-and-dance of shopping him, nor do I believe Maxx Crosby wants it advertised that he’s looking for suitors, given his bond with owner Mark Davis, and his view of himself as a Raider,” Breer stated.

So now what? Well, for Raider Nation, it’s now a waiting game. Any move by the Raiders will be met with harsh criticism, there’s no other way around it.

Still, for a team entering a full rebuild, the draft haul that Crosby could fetch might be too much to pass up. General manager John Spytek has the eyes of the NFL word set on him this week.
