Raiders News: Nakobe Dean and more.

Raiders defense will be strengthened by Nakobe Dean: A closer look…

Nakobe Dean signs a 3-year deal worth $36 million with the Las Vegas Raiders in free agency, so he will no longer play for the Philadelphia Eagles. The Dallas Cowboys, a well-known rival of the Eagles, made a similar offer to Dean, but he rejected it.

Dean has developed into one of the most athletic and powerful linebackers in the NFL. According to Over The Cap, Dean will earn $13 million per season, and this salary makes him one of the seven highest-paid linebackers.

The Eagles didn’t want to lose Dean, but their recent picks, such as Zack Baun and Jihaad Campbell, took a good deal of money, so it was predictable that this star player would finally leave them.

Dean shared his thoughts after the playoff loss in the interview and explained that he didn’t know what was going to happen. He wasn’t sure whether he would play with the guys he had already started with, so this transfer made him feel very emotional.

Nakobe Dean’s Experience In The Eagles

Nakobe Dean is one of the most sought-after linebackers right now, so the Raiders are becoming much more popular with fans who spend hundreds of dollars on bets at GGBet, hoping for wins. Dean is a young and at the same time experienced player who turned 25 in December. Unfortunately, he missed most of the 2023 season because of the foot injury, but his return in 2024 has been a success—an interception, 128 tackles, 4 pass breakups, 6 quarterback hits, and many other great achievements made it really memorable!

Of course, such a powerful game resulted in a torn patellar tendon in the left knee and led to a pause by late October, but the rest of the way wasn’t less impressive: 4.3 sacks, 6 quarterback hits, 55 tackles, and 7 tackles for loss in 8 starts! Dean’s 7.5 sacks have become the highest number since Mychal Kendricks’ success between 2012 and 2017.

Therefore, the summary of Dean’s achievements includes the following:

  • youth and excellent physical state of the linebacker;
  • unmatched talent and skills of a popular player;
  • understanding where to be located and how to tackle different situations.

Thanks to his success in four seasons with the Eagles, Dean was ranked 87th in The Athletic’s Top 150 free agents.

Future In The Raiders

The Raiders are planning to move to a 3–4 defensive alignment, and Dean will play in the middle of the defense together with Walker. The team has recently added Ronell Williams to the coaching staff, and he will take responsibility for linebackers, including Dean. He has proven his exclusive ability to be a defensive signal-caller, so his best football achievements and games will surely take place with the Raiders if he stays healthy, of course.

Both Dean and Walker will form a young, energetic duo that will rebuild the front seven of the team and provide familiarity for the center of defense. He has already shown his high-pressure capabilities during the 2024 season, so the Raiders expect him to maintain his excellent form and become a disruptive force of the team in the next season’s defensive scheme.

Financial Reasons for the Deal

Dean’s pectoral injury has become a real tragedy not only for him but also for his family. In many interviews, he admitted that his mom was very upset by the labels placed on her son. As a result, Dean experienced a great financial hit when he fell to the third round and lost almost $15 million because of the injury.

This is one of the reasons why Dean decided to test the free-agent market and what made him earn this 3-year contract worth $35 million. Some sports experts say that Dean wanted to sign a similar contract with the Eagles. Dean, his team, and the team’s representatives met at the NFL Combine to discuss the possible move of Jihaad Campbell so that Dean could stay the starting middle linebacker. However, he didn’t receive the offer he wanted.

Therefore, Dean’s team decided to test the free-agent market with a proposition to come back to Philadelphia if he didn’t manage to find what he was expecting. As you know, the Las Vegas Raiders didn’t lose an opportunity to sign up such a good player, and Dean will soon join the defense of this team.

It is important to mention that Howie Roseman and Dean finished their cooperation with mutual respect. And Dean has finally come up with the contract he has always wanted!

The Raiders’ offer of $12 million a year doesn’t impact the overall team’s budget greatly since it used to have almost $112 million in cap space. Therefore, this partnership is beneficial for both parties.
