Since the beginning of the offseason, the Oakland Raiders have had questions regarding the inside linebacker position. Those questions went right through minicamp, onto training camp, and now currently the preseason.
Though the Raiders have recent fifth-round draft pick in Marquel Lee, along with some others, they could be adding another name. Michael Gehlken of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported that the Raiders are expected to add somebody via trade or waiver.
“The NFL trade deadline is in October, but aside from the days surrounding the April draft, this week is the busiest for activity between teams. For months, the Raiders have surveyed free agency and scouted other rosters for potential help to their own. Soon, they are expected to maneuver to that effect, be it via trade or waiver claim.”
The Raiders had high hopes for Lee going into the preseason, who was expected to immediately step up and be the go to guy at the inside linebacker position. He has struggled throughout the preseason, and may need some more time to fill that roll. As the regular season rapidly approaches, if the raiders are to add to the position, they will do so now rather than later.
