A loss is a loss and most fans don’t want to hear excuses, however, Jordy Nelson shined in another squandered opportunity for the Oakland Raiders in Miami.
Let’s not forget the Raiders came out firing on all cylinders in the first quarter with Nelson totaling 139 receiving yards in the opening quarter. Throw in the 12-yard touchdown catch to boot and you’d think Nelson was going to have a record-breaking game.
Clearly, the Miami Dolphins were thrown off by the slot play of Nelson early on and it showed as ESPN Tweeted out earlier today.

Yes, this was another difficult loss to swallow for Raider Nation, however, it was nice to see Jon Gruden’s investment in Nelson finally bear some fruit.
Some Perspective
By the time the final whistle blew Nelson had six catches for 174 yards to go with the touchdown. That touchdown had some historical significance as well. Nelson now has totaled 70 touchdowns in his career with only four other active players with more scores than him.
And for all the Fantasy Football fans out there who got lucky and started Nelson even Yahoo! Sports had to bring some humor into the day via Twitter with Nelson’s unexpected performance after having only caught for 53 total yards in the first two contests.
